Nenad Novkovic studied International Business and Management at the European Business School (Regent's University) in London, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons). He also obtained a Master of Arts in Industrial Economic Management from Union University, Belgrade, Serbia.
After graduating, he began his professional career as an Associate in the fund structuring department at Bankhaus Wölbern in Hamburg, Germany. In this role, he worked on setting up a real estate/private equity fund of funds structure, acquired €45 million in target funds, managed a team of 13 to develop and launch investment fund products for institutional clients, as well as developed and implemented the company-wide financial model for fund liquidity, financing and sales.
He then took on a new challenge as Deputy Head of the Risk Management Department at the same company. He was responsible for monitoring acquisitions in excess of €50 million, managing the evaluation and approval of planned investments, helping to plan and implement the reform of the risk management department, as well as regulatory reporting on risks to the board of directors, the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), the German Central Bank (Bundesbank) and auditors.
Nenad Novkovic has been living in Belgrade since 2012 and has successfully advanced his professional career from there in various positions. For example, he became an Advisor to the Mayor of Belgrade with responsibility for the city's infrastructure investment portfolio, a Financial Specialist in public-private partnerships and energy projects for the United Nations Development Programme, as well as a Lead Consultant to the World Bank Group on comprehensive affordable housing planning for the Serbian government.
He then became Co-owner and Chief Operations Officer of an international real estate development company operating on four continents. The company's purpose is to provide affordable and sustainable housing in emerging markets and luxury hotels and resorts. He is responsible for all operations, as well as project and construction management.
Nenad Novkovic is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Germany. He holds the Crisis and Catastrophe Management Certificate from the Austrian School of Applied Studies and the Risk Management Certificate from Management Circle in Germany.
Nenad Novkovic also does volunteer work. In 2014, for example, he worked for the Red Cross in Serbia during the crisis that followed heavy rainfall. He helped register and accommodate around 12,000 people and organised the strengthening of flood protection.
