Erick Becerra is a marine biologist with in-depth knowledge in the areas of Ecology, Natural Resource Management and Sustainable Development. He holds a master's degree in Ecology as well as Coastal and Marine Management from the University of Guadalajara in Mexico, a master's degree in Business Management from the ESDEN Business School in Madrid/Spain, and a bachelor's degree in Marine Biology from the University of Guadalajara.

A major focus of his professional career is in the areas of ecology, environmental research, project management of sustainable projects and social engagement. Another focus is on coastal regions and the sectors of industry, services such as tourism and public enterprises.

He has successfully managed projects in areas such as water and waste management, environmental impact assessment and reduction of the carbon footprint. He is an expert in data analysis techniques and software, including R and GIS, and has extensive experience in conducting research, analysing data and presenting results to diverse target groups.

Erick Becerra is also a skilled communicator and team player with a proven ability to work effectively with local communities, government agencies and international organisations such as NGOs.

He is passionate about using his expertise and experience to bring about positive change in the environmental sector and thus contribute to a more sustainable future. With his passion and charisma, he is able to motivate others to break new ground.

  • Environmental Officer at Puerto Costa Maya in Mahahual/Mexico: design and implementation of waste management and recycling (PET) programmes, monitoring the environmental impact of port activities and preparing technical reports for improvement.
  • Research Technician at ASIPONA Manzanillo in Colima/Mexico: training in the development of food handling manuals according to NOM-242 standards for fishing cooperatives, collaboration with local communities to promote sustainability in daily operations.
