Dr Richard Boxall, Ph.D., MBA, is an experienced biopharmaceutical executive and strategic advisor, known for his pragmatic approach to complex challenges in the life sciences industry. With a PhD in Chemistry from King's College London, a Master in International Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics from IDEC, Spain, as well as an Executive MBA from IE Business School, Dr Boxall's academic background is complemented by certifications in Artificial Intelligence in Pharma and Biotech and Applied Business Analytics from MIT. This blend of scientific knowledge and business acumen equips him to drive innovation and leadership in today's dynamic healthcare environment.
Earlier in his career, Dr Boxall worked at Genzyme Europe B.V., where he was responsible for managing regulatory submissions and optimising portfolio strategies for international markets. His expertise in navigating global regulatory landscapes led to senior leadership roles at UCB Biopharma, including Global Programme Management Director and Head of Immunology Business Project Management, Governance & Strategy. In these roles, he managed portfolios worth over 50 billion euros, led strategic planning and secured significant investments in phase 2b pivotal studies and product lifecycle strategies. He gained further specific experience as an external Senior Advisor at PwC Life Science and Healthcare in the areas of market access, pharmacoeconomics and regulatory strategy.
Dr Boxall has extensive international experience. He spent 3.5 years in China, where he led regulatory and total access developments for UCB Biopharma in the APAC region. As APAC Neurology Lead, he successfully transformed the regulatory division, worked with the CFDA to secure critical approvals, and contributed to the company's strategic growth in the region.
