Arun Moorthy studied electronics and instrumentation at the National Institute of Technology Rourkela, India, and marketing at the Wellingkar Institute of Management in Mumbai, India. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Business Administration.
He began his professional career as a Sales Executive at Toshniwal Bopp & Reuther, a pioneer in industrial flow measurement technology with applications in the oil & gas, water/wastewater and chemical process industries. He then became Branch Sales Manager at Rockwell Automation, the global leader in industrial automation, where he worked extensively with B2B and B2C go-to-market models in the oil & gas, metals & mining, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, specialty machinery, solar and EOT crane sectors.
In the next stage of his career, he became Country Head for India and South East Asia at Echelon Corporation, a Silicon Valley pioneer in the fields of innovative control and measurement systems, among other things, and now part of Dialog Semiconductors. He then became Chief Operating Officer at Enersys Astra, a telecommunications and ICT start-up in Hyderabad, India.
Arun Moorthy's next challenge was working as Regional Director for India, South Asia and the Middle East at Red Lion Controls, an IIOT and factory automation company that is now part of HMS Networks. He was responsible for managing and optimising business development, direct sales, channel management, customer service and the strategic development of multi-product and SaaS solutions. His customers were mainly companies in the wind & solar energy, automotive, as well as food & beverage sectors.
After years of gaining extensive experience in business development in technology and high-tech companies as well as start-ups, Arun Moorthy switched to business and management consultancy.
His consulting projects include working as a consulting Director of Strategy & Business Development for a technology start-up in Mumbai that develops and produces sustainable lithium batteries for e-mobility. His main responsibilities included developing and implementing market entry strategies for the Indian and African markets, interacting with investors, as well as taking over and setting up an assembly plant in Kenya/Africa in the form of a joint venture.
Arun Moorthy is a member of the committee of the Indian Energy Storage Association and the International Society of Automation, has various certifications in the areas of leadership and strategic management, and has been awarded the Spectris prize for best regional performance three years in a row (2017, 2018, 2019).
