Sergiy Gerenko holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in German Philology and English from Sumy State Pedagogical University in Ukraine and a Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Kiev State University. He also successfully completed an MBA programme specialising in General Management at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom, graduating with a Master of Business Administration degree.

He began his career in human resources in the FMCG sector at Kraft Foods Ukraine, holding a number of roles in management as well as human resources and organisational development before being appointed HR Project Manager at Kraft Foods International in London. In this role, he led EU HR projects and global training programmes, and supported leadership development in Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.

Sergiy Gerenko subsequently held senior HR positions in the FMCG, beverages, utilities, oil & gas as well as energy sectors in Ukraine, including as HR Director at Interbrew (InBev) Ukraine, real,- Hypermarket Ukraine (Metro Group), Kievenergo (DTEK Group) and JKX Oil & Gas, and as Chief HR Officer at the national energy supplier Ukrenergo. In these roles, he successfully led large-scale restructuring efforts, implemented HRIS platforms such as SAP HR and MS Axapta, introduced competency-based management systems and ensured business continuity during times of war and pandemic.

Before becoming a management consultant, he was Head of HR/Board Member and Global HR Projects Manager at Acumen International, a global B2B SaaS provider in Leipzig/Germany. There, he developed global HR policies for multiple legal entities, led HR automation projects and managed a team that created compliance content for the company's Global Compliance Guide – an innovative SaaS product designed to support international business expansion.

In addition to his work in business, Sergiy Gerenko was a lecturer at Edinburgh Business School (Heriot-Watt University/Eastern Europe) in Kiev for over 10 years, giving lectures and teaching MBA students on the subject of human resource management.

He speaks fluent English, Ukrainian, Russian and has a good command of German. He combines over 25 years of international leadership experience in human resources with intercultural competence, resilience and a proven ability to align people strategies with business objectives to drive transformation, engagement and sustainable success.
