Philippe Luanghy holds a Master's degree in Private and Judicial Law from the Université Protestante au Congo in Kinshasa/Democratic Republic of Congo, and a diploma in Classical Humanities, specialising in Latin, from the Collège Cardinal Mercier in Braine-l'Alleud/Belgium.

He began his professional career in banking as a Branch Manager at Western Union & Banque Internationale pour l’Afrique au Congo in Kinshasa as well as Banque Internationale pour l'Afrique au Congo, before moving into international development.

Since then, Philippe Luanghy has gained over two decades of valuable experience in managing complex funding portfolios worth millions in USD for renowned international organisations such as the International Rescue Committee/IRC, Tetra Tech, the World Resources Institute/WRI, as well as numerous public and private donors such as USAID, the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office/FCDO, the World Bank, the European Union and others.

He has held positions including Grants Manager, Senior Grants Manager and Capacity Building and Small Grants Lead. As Forest & Sustainable Development Advisor for the British Embassy in Kinshasa, he was responsible for the strategic oversight of forestry and sustainable development programmes, including the Central Africa Forest Initiative (CAFI) in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo. Finally, he held comprehensive management responsibility as Awards & Compliance Manager in the healthcare sector at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, up to the position of Senior Regional Support Manager for Private Partnerships in Central Africa at the IRC in Kinshasa.

Philippe Luanghy is certified in USAID grant compliance and international contract management, strategic human capital, climate change concepts and environmental issues by the YALI Network. He is also certified in Leading Innovation and Change by the Kaya Humanitarian Studies Academy and has successfully completed the Harvard Manage Mentor Compass Programme from Harvard Business Publishing in the areas of employee development, team management, coaching, difficult interactions and persuasiveness.

He is multilingual, multicultural and has built up a strong network based on trust in Central, East and West Africa through his activities and regional presence in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Gabon, Zambia, Kenya and Senegal.
