Patrick Gerber studied Energy and Heating Technology at the Technical University of Central Hesse in Giessen/Germany, graduating with a degree as Diploma Engineer (equivalent to today's M.Sc.).

He began his professional career in Germany as a Pre-Sales Consultant at Siemens in the areas of product management and energy management solutions. He then worked as a Product Manager at Viessmann for solar thermal/PV systems, as a Project Engineer at Deutsche Bahn for the creation of energy performance certificates, and as Head of Building Management at the Marburg-Biedenkopf local authority in the public sector. During these first 12 years or so, he laid a solid foundation for himself in the fields of energy and engineering.

He then shifted his focus to Estonia, where he has been working as a Management Consultant ever since, assisting over 150 companies in entering new markets, among other things. One of his successes is advising SMA Solar, a leading global specialist in photovoltaic system technology, by supporting development projects in the field of PV inverter platforms during its market entry into the United States, thereby securing long-term sales in the US market.

Patrick Gerber is a certified Energy Auditor and worked for almost 10 years as an official external expert for the European Commission in Brussels. In this role, he evaluated innovative project proposals for the EU research and innovation programme ‘Horizon 2020’ on the topics of energy efficiency and smart grids.

His core competencies lie in strategic business development and market launch, particularly for the German energy and technology sector. This is complemented by in-depth hands-on experience in energy project management, from technical design to commercial operation. He has a unique ability to navigate complex regulatory environments, such as the German grid connection procedure (ECG) and prequalification for ancillary services.

What sets him apart is his dual perspective as a strategic advisor and pragmatic implementer with more than 25 years of experience. He not only develops strategies, but also has proven experience and success in implementing them in a results-oriented manner under pressure, leading cross-functional teams and managing crises.

With his extensive qualifications and experience, he uses tailor-made strategies to accelerate market entry, avoid costly regulatory missteps and provide access to an extensive network of DSOs (distribution system operators), TSOs (transmission system operators) and technology partners across Europe. His intervention often leads directly to a shorter time to market, lower-risk business expansion and, ultimately, more secure revenue and growth.

    • Head of Sales at TS Energia OÜ in Tallinn, in the field of developing solutions for LNG-bunkering and onshore power solutions (15 MW) with liquefied natural gas.
  • Head of the Building Management Department at the Marburg-Biedenkopf local authority in Germany, with particular responsibility for an annual budget of 16.5 million euros, reducing CO emissions by 75%, managing a department with 30 employees, including 9 engineers, 12 facility managers and 3 financial experts.
  • Project Engineer at Deutsche Bahn in Germany for the creation of energy certificates for around 400 railway stations.
  • Product Manager at Viessmann in Germany for the introduction of solar thermal/PV systems in the Spanish and Turkish markets.
  • Pre-Sales Consultant at Siemens in Germany in the areas of product management, energy management solutions & pre-sales.
