Leon Mavrogenis studied Business Administration with a specialisation in Marketing Management at the American College of Greece (ACG) in Athens/Greece, and holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master's degree in Business Administration.

He began his professional career as a Sales Merchandiser in the consumer goods sector and progressed through specialist and management positions in sales and marketing in B2B and B2C business, in the products and services sector, in the FMCG and gaming industries, as well as in the automotive industry, to become a General Manager/CEO and Board Member.

He gained his diverse experience across multiple industries while working for multinational companies such as Philip Morris International, Beiersdorf AG, Essity AB, OPAP Group and Motodynamics Group, a leading automotive distributor (Porsche, Sixt, Yamaha, Nio and Toyota/Autodirect) in Greece, Romania and Bulgaria.

He has successfully led two major corporate transformations, demonstrating his ability to turn around underperforming business units. For example, as Country Manager & Commercial Director for Greece and Cyprus at Essity, he was able to reduce receivables by 30% and inventories by 35% as well as achieving a 2.5-fold increase in EBITDA profit, for a division that was deeply in the red.

Leon Mavrogenis' leadership style is characterised by building committed, goal-oriented teams that are composed of people from different generations and cultures. He has extensive expertise in matrix organisations and enjoys promoting intercultural cooperation. He combines his strategic commercial expertise with a leadership philosophy that focuses on people, such as employees and customers, in order to achieve extraordinary results. He is also able to maintain complex relationships with stakeholders such as board members, CEOs, suppliers and customers in a goal-oriented manner at all times.

He takes a holistic approach, integrating NLP techniques, meditation practices and wellness disciplines to improve both personal effectiveness and corporate culture. In addition to numerous certifications and further training, he holds the NLP Practitioner Certificate from the American Bureau of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (ABNLP) in the USA, the Certificate in Leading Organisations & Change from MIT Sloan University in the USA, and the Certificate in Sales & Account Management from Cranfield University in the UK. He is currently working intensively on the development of AI-supported leadership skills. In addition, he offers training courses on leadership, change management and personal growth.

  • General Manager/CEO and Board Member of the Motodirect Division of the Motodynamics Group, a leading automotive distributor (Porsche, Sixt, Yamaha, Nio and Toyota/Autodirect) in Greece, Romania and Bulgaria; listed on the ASE (Athens Stock Exchange) with a turnover of around 200 million euros, responsible in particular for:
    • Rebranding the division and achieving 20% revenue growth.
    • Developing an omnichannel retail strategy, including enhanced customer experiences.
    • Further developing the B2B sales strategy for 12 imported brands.
    • Developing and implementing an organisational structure for 55 employees.
  • Working for the OPAP Group, a leading gaming company in Greece and one of the most renowned in its industry worldwide with a turnover of around 10 billion euros:
    • Head of Marketing Department of Greek Lotteries (FMCG Retail): Management of brand and product management with a volume of around 400 million euros under volatile macro/microeconomic conditions, winner of the global WLA award for ‘Best TV Ad’ and the European EL award for ‘Product Innovation’.
    • Head of OPAP Sales Department of Greek Lotteries (FMCG Retail): expansion of sales in a retail network of over 4,000 shops, introduction of lottery games to B2B representatives.
  • Worked for Essity AB, a Swedish multinational company with a turnover of around 13 billion euros in the hygiene and health products sector:
    • Country Manager & Commercial Director for Greece and Cyprus: management of 100 employees with sales of approx. 100 million euros, reduction of receivables by 30% and inventories by 35%, as well as a 2.5-fold increase in EBITDA profit.
    • Marketing Director: management of a brand portfolio worth around 65 million euros, 5% increase in market share and 25% business growth in a market that declined by 7%, increase in brand awareness from around 10% to 20%.
    • Commercial Manager Cyprus: Established new sales partnerships, increased sales by 17% and profits by 22% in the first year.
    • Sales Director: Managed the sales and customer marketing team (41 employees, 24 retailers/wholesalers), won the ‘Supplier of the Year, Non-food’ Retail Award, coordinated a Europe-wide CRM implementation.
