Hassan AbouKhatwa studied at the Faculty of Engineering in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Cairo University in Egypt, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics and Telecommunications. He also completed a mini-master's degree in Business Administration at Missouri State University.
After graduating, he began his professional career as a Field Service Engineer & Sales Representative at ECS (Egyptian Computer Systems), one of the largest IBM PC dealers in Egypt. After about four years, he found a new challenge with a greater focus on sales as a Marketing Representative/Senior Marketing Representative for Memorex Telex at Saudico Electronic Systems in Saudi Arabia, at that time a global provider, among other things, of IBM data network and storage products as well as related services. He then moved directly to IBM Egypt as an Accounts Sales Manager, where he was successfully responsible for the sale of IBM mainframes to customers such as AMAC, MIRT and Arab Contractors, with volumes ranging from one to three million US dollars each.
Hassan AbouKhatwa then became International Channel Manager at Avaya Communications in Egypt, where within a year he progressed to Country Manager for Egypt and Channel Manager for North and West Africa. Further milestones in his career included his role as Business & Sales General Manager at AVIT in Egypt and as Regional Sales Manager for North Africa and the Levant region at Alan Dick North Africa.
His successful career continued with further management positions as Regional Sales Manager Africa at Serta Telecom, General Manager (for Egypt, Levant/Eastern Mediterranean and Sudan) at NEC Corporation in Egypt, Regional Head of Sales & Consultant (for MENA/Middle East and North Africa) at Tejas Network in Egypt, as well as Head of MEA (Middle East & Africa) for SIAE Microelletronica in Milan/Italy. In these roles, he was primarily responsible for developing and implementing strategic business plans, managing sales processes, establishing and maintaining long-term (major) customer relationships, ensuring customer requirements for IT & telecommunications solutions, high customer service standards, conducting negotiations, as well as direct sales and partnerships with major service providers such as Orange and Telecom Egypt.

His achievements have been recognised with awards including the Avaya Falcon Award for outstanding performance and the NEC Corporation Value Realisation Award.
