After graduating from UTP, he began his professional career at Pfizer in the supply chain division, where, over the course of around 20 years, he progressed from a supply chain specialist to an executive with extensive local, regional and global responsibilities. During this time, he acquired in-depth end-to-end knowledge of biopharmaceutical and other supply chains, combining strategic planning and operational implementation with a strong focus on employee well-being as well as an extremely pragmatic and results-oriented management style.
His first senior management role was as Site Leader & Central America Operations Lead at the Panama Logistics Centre, where he was responsible for sales management and customer service, leading a team of 15 employees, warehouse management (active ingredients, intermediates and finished products in Latin America, Puerto Rico, Central America and the Caribbean), financial results for all export production sites, intra-group logistics and financial processes, as well as ICO turnover of more than 5 billion USD per year.
His responsibilities as Director of Intercompany Operations then included, in particular, the logistics centre in Panama, the management of 20 employees, intra-group turnover of over 20 billion USD per year, order management, logistics, financial flows, cross-border trade compliance, as well as the management of several teams in Panama, Montreal and the USA. As Global Materials Management Lead for biotechnology and sterile injectables, he was subsequently responsible for supply readiness across eight global biotech sites as well as governance in materials management. In his role as Global Logistics & Network Services Operations Lead for the Logistics Centres in Singapore and Panama, he was then responsible for managing global logistics (approx. 30% of the group’s worldwide internal goods flows) and network services within the Global Supply Chain (GLNS), internal group processes, “Air-to-Ocean” programmes, the global lipid support platform, as well as leading several teams in Panama, Singapore, Costa Rica and Colombia.
Other areas of his expertise include, e.g., fostering cross-functional acceptance of change among a wide range of stakeholders, improving productivity and reliability, driving transformation and process optimisation, performance management, as well as reducing delays, risks and costs. He also managed trading companies based in the Colón Free Zone and the Panama-Pacífico Free Zone. Overall, he has consistently achieved sustainable, measurable local and global improvements in material availability, delivery times, services, etc.
He also holds further professional certifications and diplomas, such as in supply chain management (CSCPM), big data and advanced management, strategies & business applications of artificial intelligence, as well as neuro leadership, all from internationally recognised organisations.
