Dr István Miholek holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Retail Operations and Trade Management from the University of Budapest in Hungary, as well as a Master of Business Administration in International Trade from Corvinus University in Budapest. He also holds a PhD in Customer’s Satisfaction Measurement from Newport University in Salt Lake City/USA.
After completing his studies, he began his career as a Business Economist at the Metallurgical Industrial Company and, thanks to his achievements, quickly rose to become Head of Contract Management at MOL Hungarian Oil and then Financial Director of the Duna Shoe Factory.
He subsequently became President & Chief Executive Officer at Orex Watch, Hungary’s largest watch and jewellery retail chain company with 1,500 employees, and went on to establish himself as a confident CEO in several top positions. Dr István Miholek became Chief Executive Officer at Euromedic Pharma Wholesale (pharmaceutical wholesaler, medical devices and hospital supplies), with 250 full-time employees responsible for Hungary and the Netherlands and an annual turnover of 300 million euros, Chief Executive Officer at Al Maktaba in Riyadh/Saudi Arabia (retail and distribution of office supplies, including logistics, with over 30 retail outlets, 4 logistics centres and 800 full-time employees), and Chief Executive Officer at Office Depot in the retail and wholesale of office supplies as well as in B2B & B2C sales and services, responsible for Hungary and Eastern Europe. During this time, his responsibilities included strategic corporate management, expansion and growth, establishing international supplier partnerships, M&A, comprehensive turnarounds and operational restructuring, process optimisation, cost reduction, improving service quality and operational efficiency, commercial and operational management, as well as the privatisation of a large state-owned enterprise.
